The Biggest Drawing In The World

"With the help of a GPS device and DHL, I have drawn a self portrait on our planet. My pen was a briefcase containing the GPS device, being sent around the world. The paths the briefcase took around the globe became the strokes of the drawing."

I enjoy your posts. I like what you say, and the things you find. But being told that I need to go to some other website in order to comment kinda harshes my buzz.

ICE- Yeah, it would've been nice if he had chosen something other than his self-portrait to draw in a massive project like that. ;)

garrett- Let me get this straight. Instead of making people leave the comforting bosom of LJ with no guarantee of new content on my site, I helpfully provide a link to my new content, whenever there is some, and this somehow harshes your buzz?

Begging your pardon, sir, but I have zero sympathy. ;)

Or am I reading your comment through my past grumpiness at LJ-folks' unwillingness to leave their friendslist, and misunderstanding?

Your grumpiness at what folks have done in the past is not my fault, but perhaps it can serve as a sign that those people may have had a legitimate grievance. I feel that I do: A post with comments disabled that redirects me to a site where I do not get email notifications of discussion events is basically cutting me out of the conversation. I only saw your response to this, for example, because I was concerned enough to go back to this site and then click all over the posts on the page (because they do not appear in any sensible arrangement). If you have "zero sympathy", then that's just the way it is. I'll be sad to see you leave my reading list, but being able to interact with the people I know in internet-land is important to me.

    Nope, I guess I wasn't misunderstanding.

"You insist on putting your content on an external site, instead of on Livejournal" is not a legitimate grievance, to me. Rather than making people just bookmark my site, or type in the address to come see if I have posted something new, I am automagically notifying my friendslist when there is new content -- and your complaint is that it's inconvenient? Can you understand at all why this makes me want to laugh and throttle someone simultaneously? ;)

I had more to say, but I've deleted it for now. I'm gonna sleep on what you had to say / my reactions to it, and post more about it tomorrow -- on LJ, just to make sure everyone will see it. (Oh, the gentle eyerolling I do.)

The implication that a lack of automation kills conversation is hilarious within almost any context.
